A field manual for FrontWars

Teams: four formats on one switch

Teams is not one setting. On the lobby carousel we saw Free for All, Quads (teams of 4), 3 Teams and Humans vs Nations within a single session, each with its own player cap.

The Rules & Options tab of a private lobby on 2026-11-03, MODE set to Free for All with MAX PLAYERS 200, next to DIFFICULTY, BOTS and the enable switches.
What this shows where the team format actually lives: one MODE switch in the lobby, so the badges on the public cards are that switch plus a preset, not four separate modes.Captured 2026-11-03Client v42.5Plate 1

The formats we saw

QUADS (TEAMS OF 4)15→24 of 100

The numbers were moving while we read them — that is what the arrows mean. A card is live: the player count climbs as people join and the countdown runs out regardless.

What a team actually shares

We do not know, and this is the honest gap on this page. The client prints borders in team colour, and the instructions describe donations of gold and troops as one-off transfers, which is the same action whether the recipient is an ally or a teammate. Whether a Quad shares vision, tax, or the ability to build on the teammate's territory is unmeasured here.

What we can say is that the warheads do not care. Every nuke lands on territory, and the retreat rule — you lose 25 % of the troops that were attacking — applies to whoever is under it.

Team play needs two humans

Because a private lobby will not start with one player, every team format in the list requires at least a second person, and the public carousel is the only way in without an account. That is a structural limit on how much of this page we can measure alone, and it is why the page ends on a list of questions rather than numbers.

If you are playing Quads with people you know, the option that matters most is Disable alliances in the lobby rules — with teams on, the handshake menu still works, and an ally inside a team is a second loyalty layer the client does not explain.
